The Seasons and Weather When it comes to fishing

It is a known rule among most fishermen and fly fishermen that those trout fly fishermen can go earlier in the season than those who fish for bass specifically. Although, as the season advances and the months roll by into June, those bass fishermen should be able to find some good bass in those streams and rivers, though nothing will compare to July and August for bass fishing, August especially is some of the best bass fly fishing.

Although, during August you have to beware because the water levels are usually at their lowest and the fish will take to hiding in holes, so you may need to dangle your bait down a bit lower. September is when most of the Eastern and Midwestern trout fishermen stop for the seasons as most of the fishing is not all that good. If you however are a die-hard fisherman and are looking for good fishing in the fall, late October will probably suit you.

If you are looking for the ideal weather conditions for all types of fly fishing you have to be willing to get a little wet with rain, for the ideal weather is normally just before the rain or maybe when mother nature threatens to rain and there is not even enough breeze to move the surface of the stream or river you are fishing on.

Some people say that thunderstorms and rain in general do not make for good fishing trips but that is often not true! For if you are heading out to fish and it is a light sprinkle, you may be bringing home a lot of fish that you never would have imagined – when it rains, generally it will turn the tide in a fishermen’s favor and will se the fish to rising so you can catch them!

Now, moving onto what time of day is best for fishing. As most fishermen already know, the early morning hours, generally from dawn until eight or nine are usually some of the best fishing. Although, if you are not an early riser, you should be happy to know that four in the afternoon until around sundown or even after sundown can produce some really good fish as well.
