Flying Fishing and the Largemouth Bass

Bass fly fishing has become increasingly popular in the recent months and years and is becoming a great past time for each and every fly fisherman. The largemouth bass is one of the most sought after game fish all over the continent! First, the largemouth bass was introduced in the Eastern United Stated, but currently, the largemouth bass can be found all over the US and fly fishing for this awesome game fish has become incredibly challenging and rewarding.

Now, when most people think about largemouth bass fishing, they believe using fiberglass rods, heavy fishing lines and very large lures will draw the fish in. But, that is not always true as most fly fishermen are finding more and more advantages to fly fishing for this sought after game fish. Not only does fly fishing let the fishermen have a good variety of artificial ‘food’, but a fly fisherman can also toss out mice and frogs in an attempt to catch a largemouth bass.

When you are first starting out fly fishing for largemouth bass, you want to be sure that you know some information about the fish and what to look for. Largemouth bass are often found hiding in the shadows, under logs or ducking into a group of seaweed. Also, these fish are normally found in shallow water, so be sure you are fishing in shallow water so you can catch yourself one of these basses!

Some other useful facts about largemouth bass fish are that they usually come around in the early spring and although they are a bit sluggish, they are definitely seeking food. Again, be sure you are in the shallow waters but also make sure you are checking around in sea week, under rocks and logs and even near the banks!

A largemouth bass can be identified by its green or pale olive colors along the back and its white to almost a pale yellow along the stomach. You just need to keep your eyes peels and when you see a fish that matches that description, cast your line there!
