Fish Finders

Fish Finders

Part of the excitement of fishing is when that fish is hooked and you get to fight with it when reeling it in. In order to get to that point, you need to be able to find out where the fish are hiding. One great item that is new to the electronic department is the fish finder! It is an absolute must for each and every fisherman for it assists in the act of locating where the fish are. It uses a group of instruments called sonars, a sonar features a transmitter, transducer, receiver and a display.

Basically what happens when you use a fish finder is it sends an electrical impulse from the transmitter, which is then converted into a sound wave by the transducer that is sent into the water. Whenever a sound wave hits some type of item, it rebounds itself; meaning, that when the sound waves echo hits the transducer, it will convert it back into an electrical signal, which is then amplified by the receiver and finally, it is sent to the display where you can see it.

On the display, you will see a history of the echoes, you are also able to customize your display, you can make it as sensitive as you want, you can change the depth range and also the chart speed. If you are looking for a great display, you will definitely want to purchase a fish finder that has a high number of pixels, for the more pixels the display has, the better image on the display itself.

Let's say that you purchased yourself one of the top of the line fish finders and are out on the boat, using it and still not able to catch anything. It may help if you know exactly what to look for on the fish finder display when it has found a fish. The echoes from the dish within the beam with are illuminated pixels on display. Although, there a lot of factors that will depend on you will see on the display: the speed of the boat, the direction, size and depth of the fish, the cone angle of the transducer and also the sensitivity setting.
